At Mikkárbo, we believe in creating objects that do more than fulfill a function. We create handmade ceramics for everyday life: pieces to hold, use, share, and keep. Objects that find their place in our homes and, over time, become part of our everyday rituals.

My relationship with making began long before Mikkárbo. I grew up in a family of shoemakers, where craftsmanship was part of daily life. For more than 30 years, my family created shoes by hand. I remember how the hands of the makers left their mark on each piece. Every shoe carried a story: the materials, the construction, the care, and the human touch behind it.

That experience shaped the way I see design. After years working in design, trends, and strategy, I found my way back to creating with my hands through ceramics. Mikkárbo became a way to reconnect with that essential part of myself: the joy of transforming an idea into an object that can be used and appreciated every day.

Our ceramics are designed to be functional, versatile, and enduring. We embrace the subtle variations that come with handmade work, because no two pieces are exactly alike. Each one carries the evidence of the hand that made it.

For us, sustainability is also about the things we choose to keep. It is about moving away from disposable objects and embracing fewer, more meaningful pieces. We work in small batches, make thoughtful use of materials, and explore reclaimed clay as part of our commitment to a more conscious way of creating.

We call it growing a green mindset.

Not simply making things differently, but seeing everyday objects differently. Choosing pieces that serve us well, that we connect with, and that we want to keep for years to come.

Because we believe that the objects we live with should have a life beyond the moment they are made. They should be used, loved, and perhaps one day passed on, carrying memories and stories of their own.
