Our Process

Our production process at Claudia and Fernanda's ceramics studio centers on traditional handmade techniques, ensuring each piece is crafted with care and attention to detail. Claudia and Fernanda personally handle every step of the process, from shaping the clay on the pottery wheel to adding intricate hand-building details. We prioritize sustainability by using eco-friendly and sustainable materials in our production. By consciously selecting materials with a lower environmental footprint, we strive to minimize our impact on the planet while creating beautiful, functional ceramics. Additionally, our commitment to sustainability extends to our local sourcing and production practices, supporting our community. Our handmade ceramics process allows us to customize each piece to our customers' unique preferences. Whether it's adjusting the shape, size, or glaze color, we tailor our creations to meet the individual needs and tastes of our customers. This personalization adds value and ensures that each piece is truly one-of-a-kind, reflecting the artisanal skill and creativity of Claudia and Fernanda.

Steps

1.- Design Process: Our handmade ceramics production process begins with the conceptualization of ideas during the design phase. Claudia and Fernanda work closely to translate their creative vision into tangible forms that capture the essence of their craft.

2.-Throwing: The throwing stage is where the magic happens as they skillfully work with clay on the pottery wheel. Here, they shape each piece to the desired design, adding handles, hand-built details, and unique stamps to infuse the ceramics with character and charm.

3.-Air dry: Once shaped, the clay pieces undergo a crucial air-drying process. This natural drying method allows the clay to reach a bone-dry state, essential for preventing hairline cracks during firing in the kiln.

4.-Bisque Fire: The bisque firing stage takes place in an electrical pottery kiln. This process removes all residual moisture from the clay, strengthening the pieces while maintaining their porous nature. Although not yet food-safe, this stage prepares the ceramics for the subsequent glazing process.

5.-Glazing and hand painting: With meticulous attention to detail, Claudia and Fernanda personally glaze and hand-paint each piece to perfection. Whether dipping or brush-painting, they ensure that every stroke enhances the beauty and uniqueness of the ceramics.

6.-Glaze Fire: The final step in our production process is the glaze firing. In the kiln, the ceramics undergo high temperatures, causing the glazes to crystallize and form a durable, food-safe finish. This transformative process not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the ceramics but also ensures their functionality and longevity.

The entire process typically spans 4 to 5 weeks.
Furthermore, our dedication to quality craftsmanship is evident throughout our production process. We take great care to use high-quality materials and pay meticulous attention to detail, resulting in ceramics that are not only beautiful but also durable, with unmatched quality, and utilitarian pieces for people to use by
generations.
